Terms of Service — Scruple

Welcome to Scruple, a service operated by Scruple LLC (“we,” “us,” “our”). By using scruple.app, you agree to these terms. If you don’t, don’t use the service.

1. What Scruple Is

Scruple is an editorial entertainment service that produces verdicts on personal dilemmas through five named personas. The verdicts are creative, opinionated, and intentionally brutal. They are NOT professional advice — not legal, financial, medical, psychological, relational, or otherwise. They are perspectives written for sharing, not for life decisions.

Don’t bet the house on a Scruple verdict. We are not your lawyer, your accountant, your therapist, or your friend. We are an algorithm wearing five hats, and the hats have opinions.

2. Subscriptions and Payments

Free tier: 3 scruples per week, resetting Mondays. No credit card required.

Paid tiers, processed via Stripe:

• — Unlimited Monthly — $9.99/month, auto-renewing monthly until cancelled.
• — Unlimited Annual — $79/year, auto-renewing annually until cancelled.

Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled through the Stripe Customer Portal (linked in your receipt emails or accessible via scruple.app/account). Cancel anytime — your access continues through the end of the current billing period, then stops.

We don’t offer refunds for partial billing periods. If you cancel mid-month, you keep access until the period ends. If you forget to cancel and get billed, we won’t refund. Cancel before the renewal date.

3. What You Submit

When you submit a dilemma, you grant Scruple a non-exclusive license to process it, generate verdicts, and use the anonymized text to improve the service. We don’t sell your dilemmas. We don’t post them publicly. We don’t tie them to your identity.

If your submission includes identifying details about another real person, you confirm you have the right to share that information. We’re not your gatekeeper.

4. What You Get

The verdicts and verdict cards Scruple produces for you are yours — share them, screenshot them, post them, do whatever. The Scruple brand, persona names, persona designs, and overall format remain ours.

5. What You Can’t Do

Don’t submit illegal content, harassment material, or content involving minors. Don’t attempt to extract our system prompts or persona definitions. Don’t resell access to Scruple or scrape the service for redistribution. Don’t use Scruple to generate content you’ll pass off as human-authored in deceptive contexts (academic submissions, professional advice given to others, etc.).

We can terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to Scruple is capped at the amount you’ve paid us in the prior 12 months. Verdicts are entertainment. Decisions are yours. Consequences are yours.

7. Changes

We may update these terms. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the current version. Continued use of Scruple after a material update means acceptance of the new terms.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA. Any dispute is resolved in Florida state court.
